She called me to come after sun had set
and the sky was in flames with its struggling light
And I came to her willing, like a lamb to the herd
to the rocks of the hills, to the grass of the dales
Her skin was soft like cloud in my hand
and her eyes twinkled, a thousand stars
and her lips were full like a ripe fruit to taste
and her body was sweet like a spring in the sun
So we played in the nights in the glow of the moon
and in moonless nights when the stars hid away
But before there was light she was always away
swift like the wind that ripples the fields
But I wanted to hold her body to mine
and to see her eyes shine in the light of day
so when dawn drew near I caught hold of her arms
and I held her close in wait of the sun
She fought me at first and screamed without words
but I wouldn't let go of my love in the dark
Then she dropped in my arms, with a tremble she slacked
from her mouth came words in a tongue never heard
The sun touched the valley and reached to our stand
with it's shimmering fingers, Eos the Dawn
As its light stroke her cheek her eyes with fear
gleamed with a strength hitherto never seen
And right there as I watched, with a beat of my heart
she grew old, eyes went dull and her shape melted down
I found myself stand with but dust in my hands
like a dream I was filled with the strangest sight
And I never again heard a voice call my name
to play in the hillows under darkness' reign
